# How to use the filter/search (Booking & Attendance)

When using Xap, you have the option to customise your search results to find exactly what you want. Searching, filtering or refining can help you get a quick overview of the data you wish to view for a specific purpose. For example, you may want to see all the children booked into the Koala room. Find out more below.

**Step 1: **Select bookings & attendance from the left hand side menu.

**Step 2:** Select your tab. 

 At the top of the screen you can select what you prefer to search.

Once you have selected your tab, you have the option to search/filter further:

**Search by Keyword:** You can use this search filter, to search by a keyword such as child's name, family name, and much more!

**Search by Date:** You can use this search filter, to search for a time period

**Heading Filter:** Each heading also has its own refine tool, select the heading if you wish to arrange alphabetical from A-Z or from Z-A.

**Filter Tool:**  Use the Filter tool to refine by a specific set of rules. Each display preference has their own set of filter tool features.
