# Switching accounts for Centre Staff who are Guardians

This article will assist you with switching between Service and Guardian mode if you are a Staff member and also a Guardian for Xap AND are using the same email address.

### Overview

Usernames are based on email addresses - if you have two different user roles (eg. Staff and Guardian) and use the same email address, you will need to switch your views to access the information that you would like to see.

### Scenario

Linda Lawton is a **Staff Member** at Giraffe Child Care Centre that uses Xap.

Service: Giraffe Child Care Centre
User: Staff Member
Email Address: **linda.lawton@mailinator.com**

Megan is also a **Guardian** at Giraffe Child Care that uses Giraffe Child Care Centre.

Service: Giraffe Child Care Centre
User: Guardian
Email Address: **linda.lawton@mailinator.com**

### Logging in

To log into Xap Linda uses the link **xap.rocks**

1. Add in your **email address**
2. Add in your secure **password**
3. Select **Log In**

###### This will take you into **Xap** viewing your Initial permissions.

**For example ____**
**A.** You activated your Guardian Xap access before your Staff Member Access, you will be taken to the **Guardian Web Portal**.
**B.** You activated your Staff Member Xap access before your Guardian Access, you will be taken to the **Xap program**.

### Switching from Service view to Guardian View

If you would like to switch your view eg. Staff to Guardian:

1. Select your **Service name** on the top right-hand side.

2. Select **Guardian Access** from the drop-down menu

###### You will now be able to view and manage your **Family Account** details

### Switching from Guardian View to Service view

If you would like to switch your view eg. Guardian to Staff view:

1. Select your **Service name** on the top right-hand side.

2. Select **Centre Access** from the drop-down menu

###### You will now be able to view and manage your **Service details**

### Setting your Default view

If you would like to set your Default Xap view:

1. Select your **Service name** on the top right-hand side.

| Note: this is the same process regardless of if you in Centre or Guardian view.

2. Select **Change Login Preference** from the drop-down menu

3. Select your **preferred default access level** 
4. Select **Update Profile**
