Victorian Kindy Funding - Arrival Sessional Kindergartens Getting Ready

What is Arrival?

Arrival is a new purpose-built system that will replace the Kindergarten Information Management System (KIMS) for mandatory kindergarten data reporting. Arrival will also include functionality to enable sessional services to collect and report attendance data.

From January 2025, all funded kindergarten services will enter their enrolment, teacher or educator and program information into Arrival in place of the department’s existing data collection system, KIMS.

All mandatory data collections (annual confirmation and the Annual Kindergarten Census) will be managed through Arrival.

The department will start to collect attendance data from sessional services via Arrival in a staged approach across 2025.

New information to be reported by Services

Section	New Information
Child	Middle name (not mandatory), Preferred name (not mandatory)
New teacher and educator related questions	Country of birth (not mandatory for 2025), Main language spoken at home (not mandatory for 2025).
Additional or updated information about teacher and educator qualifications:	Length of early childhood teacher qualification, Type of early childhood qualification currently completing (not mandatory), Expected year of completion of educator early childhood qualification (not mandatory).
New service-related information	Hours the service is operationally unavailable (e.g. planning days), Total number of rooms at the service used for kindergarten program delivery (not mandatory).
For each parent or guardian that will be dropping off or picking up the child	Parent or guardian’s first name, middle name, and last name, Parent or guardian’s mobile phone number, Parent or guardian’s relationship to the child.
Where someone other than the parent or guardian will be dropping off or picking up the child	Authorised nominee’s first name, middle name, and last name, Authorised nominee’s mobile phone number.

Transitioning to Arrival

October 2024	Arrival information sessions for services
November 2024	All services have completed initial steps in preparation for Arrival, including having compliant user email addresses
Between 27 January and 28 February 2025	Service providers will start accessing Arrival
January to March 2025	Services enter enrolment and program information as part of Annual Confirmation
Across 2025	Department starts collecting attendance data from sessional services (staged approach)
From 2026	All services to use Arrival for data reporting, including funding reports and SRF planning and acquittals
