What are the email statuses shown in Xap?

There are a number of different statuses that email can have in the email history screen in Xap. The below table details these statuses and necessary actions.

Status

Description

Action

Failed

Email address is invalid or cannot be found

Correct email address and retry

Deferred

A deferred status can occur when an ISP or mailbox provider is for some reason not ready to accept mail from Xap. Instead of blocking or bounding the message, the provider will defer or temporarily delay receiving the message and wait for the email to be resent

Try again later

Dropped

In certain cases, our email provider will drop a message to a specific email address in order to protect the Xap sender reputation. The email provider keeps email lists to track bounces, spam reports and unsubscribes for providers. If a user sends a message to an email address that exists on one of these lists within their account, the email provider will automatically drop the message (i.e. not send to the address)

Confirm the correct address is in use and that the Guardian is happy to receive email. Previous emails may have bounced. You may need to contact Xap support to have the email address removed from the blocked list.

Bounce

A bounce occurs when the server cannot deliver a message. Bounces often are caused by outdated or incorrectly entered email addresses

Confirm the correct address is in use.

Processed

When an individual message is received and prepares it to be delivered

No action required.

Delivered

Email has been successfully delivered

No action required

Open

Email has been received and opened by the Guardian

No action required
