Connect APP/Kiosk Best Practices


This article will assist you with best practices for managing attendances for children at your Service using the Connect App for Educator mode and Kiosk mode for Families.


Overview


The Connect App for Educators has 2 different modes:


1. Educator Mode

This mode allows you to:

  • Sign children in/out/mark absent
  • Create head counts/activities
  • Create observations

2. Kiosk Mode

This mode allows:

  • Guardians and Nominees to sign children in/out/mark absent
To assist you with Kiosk (Family) Mode see: Signing your child in/out via the Services Kiosk



Commencement of the Day


If you have devices that are only Kiosk (Family) Mode at the beginning of the day:


  • Ensure Kiosk mode has been activated
  • The device has internet connection
  • The device is charged/charging
  • Any casual bookings have been added into Xap via the portal
  • Ready for family sign in


Have a paper copy of the sign in sheet just in case you have internet connectivity issues. see: Printing a Blank Attendance Sheet


Staff - Managing Absences


  • Mark children absent via Connect App if required or via the Xap portal


Managing Missed Sign-Ins


Used during:

  • Mid-morning room checks
  • Or ASC pick-up


Actions:

  • Check all children that are present have been signed in
  • Sign in any missed children (missed by Families)


Managing Missed Sign-outs


Used during:

  • Close of Service checks, check all children have been signed out
  • BSC drop-off sign children out of the Service


Actions:

  • Sign out any missed children (missed by families)
