How to Create Custom Activities & Fields


If you have specific activities that you would like to record, use our custom activities option to create a customised list of activities that you would like to record. These can be sent as daily updates for guardians to view or the "staff-only" option can be enabled to internally track a child's progress and development.


What is Custom Activities?


Custom activities can be used to record activities aimed at the children's overall development and growth.


There are two main parts of learning activities:


Activity Name

This is the title of the activity. This title will appear on the activity update in the child's daily activity feed, along with any descriptions or pictures you choose to record.


Examples include: circle time, play time, quiet time, sensory exploration, art time, silent reading etc.


Category

This is a specialized tag that you can add to your learning activities. These can be customized to indicate specific skills that you want the activities to address.


Examples include: literacy skills, social-emotional skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills etc.


How to Customise Learning Activities via App


Step 1: Login to the web portal and click on the settings icon on the left-hand side menu



**Step 2: ** Click on the activities icon.



**Step 3: ** Click on the green plus icon to add the activity.



Step 4: Enter an activity name and select an icon or upload a new icon.



By default, Xap has children, date and time fields added to each activity you create. You can add more fields if you wish such as a details or photo/video field.


Step 5: Once a custom activity is added, you can add more fields. Click on the icon as indicated in the image below and select the field type you would like to add.



Step 6: Once added, you can click save.




Creating Additional Custom Fields

Once the custom activity is created or if you would like to add Custom Fields to an existing Activity.

  1. Select the Activity you would like to further customise
  2. Select the Add Content icon
  3. From the drop down select the extra field to be include
In this example we have selected Drop down


As we have selected Drop-down we are then able to add in different options to select from.


  1. Add in the label name eg. Location
  2. Select if this field is mandatory to be completed in the Activity
  3. Add in the Locations for this example
  4. Select the + Add button to add more options
  5. Select if you would like this field to display on the child's timeline posts
  6. Select Save



Repeat the process to add in any other custom content/fields you would like included on your Activities.
