Overview of the Activities Module

Use Xap to record and share photos, videos, sleep updates, nappy and toilet training updates, sunscreen and other activities. Services have the option to add, edit, or delete activity posts from the app or the web. Connect to your guardians by sending photos and videos of their children having fun, learning, growing, experiencing challenges, and building relationships at your childcare centre. This reassures parents that they have chosen a wonderful childcare for their child, and -- as an added benefit for you -- may inspire parents to share their photos and videos with friends and family as a way of recommending your daycare by word-of-mouth.

You can log an activity from the web portal or from the Xap connect app. Simply tap the Add Activity icon, choose the action you wish to record, and post.

How to Log Activities For the Daily Feed

• Select an activity
• Tag an individual, some, or all of the children
• Upload photos/videos
• Type the message
• Post or save as a draft.

Activity Types

See below for the actions you have at your disposal:

Photo - Share photos of children with their parents to keep them engaged throughout the day

Video* - Record a video in the app or upload one from your gallery. Let guardians experience those special moments from anywhere!

Food - Create custom food menus for tracking purposes. Send food or bottle updates to the parents.

Sleep - Record the beginning and ending of sleep time to enable and disable sleep icons to quickly see who is sleeping.

Potty- Track nappy changes and toilet breaks.

Mood- Send updates about how children are feeling to their parents.

Custom* - Create custom activities to log specific activities affiliated with your centre or program.

Uploading Media

Xap allows you to take photos and record videos right from the app, or you can upload from your gallery.

Edit or Delete Actions

You can edit or delete actions from the app or on the web. Here's how:

From the App:

• From main navigation, click on activities.
• Within the feed, select the action to edit/delete.
• Tap the desired action within the pop-up prompt — “deleting and/or editing the action.”
• For actions that record times, you may also edit those times.

FAQ

Can I record actions for multiple children at once?

Yes. Every action from the activity feed allows you to select one, multiple, or all children during the recording. Actions are only recorded within the selected children’s activity feeds.

Who will see the recorded actions or photos?

Recorded actions and photos will only post within the timeline of the children you tagged. Each child's timeline can only be viewed by educators, parents, and guardians connected to their profile unless the post is group post.

What are Staff Only posts?

The Staff Only check box offers your more control over which posts can be viewed by parents and when, learn how to enable and disable staff-only posts here.
